Home and Community Based Services (HCS)

These services are available to people with developmental disabilities who are living with family, in their own home, in foster care or in a home with no more than four other people also receiving services. To qualify for HCS supports, individuals must have developmental disabilities and qualify for the Medicaid Home and Community-Based services program.

Kenmar has HCS facilities in Williamson, Travis and Fayette Counties. Click here for a list of those locations. There is a waiting list for these services. To be added to the list, contact your Local Authority (formerly known as mental retardation authority).

HCS offers a viable community-based alternative to institutional living for people with developmental disabilities, within a comprehensive system of community-based services. These include:

  • Supported Home Living (SHL) services
  • Service coordination
  • Therapies
  • Nursing services
  • Residential assistance
  • Minor home modifications
  • Supported employment
  • Adaptive aids
  • Recreational services

Recreational Services

Kenmar Residential HCS-based Service provides a wide rance of recreational activities for its residents.

Community Involvement

The community as a whole is viewed as part of the training environment. Our facilities include in their activity programs as many community functions and opportunities as possible. Social and family contact is encouraged and fostered by facility staff.

Admission

Kenmar Residential Services admits consumers without regard to race, color, creed or national origin. Residents are taught independent living skills, with the goal of enabling the Resident to function independently in the community.
